I have long believed I do not deserve to own expensive sunglasses. I came to this conclusion one summer when I lost, in quick succession, a pair or Ray-bans, a pair of Gargoyles, and a pair of prescription sunglasses. After that I vowed never to spend more on a pair of shades than I would on a nice lunch, because the lunch would likely last longer!

Well, for quite a while swearing off designer glasses meant my only option was the spinny-racks at the super market. Well, that is a really lousy option—either spend way beyond my means for a pair of glasses I would likely lose, or buy a cheap ugly pair of sunglasses that would embarrass me for week, then break before I had a chance to lose them. What a choice!
